A balding, white haired man from Sherman Oaks in California, walked into a jewelry store in a local mall this past Friday evening with a beautiful much younger gal at his side. He told the jeweler he was looking for a special ring for his girlfriend.

The jeweler looked through his stock and brought out a $5,000 ring.

The man said, 'No, I'd like to see something more special.'

At that statement, the jeweler went to his special stock and brought another ring over. 'Here's a stunning ring at only $40,000' the jeweler said. The lady's eyes sparkled and her whole body trembled with excitement.

The old man seeing this said, 'We'll take it.'

The jeweler asked how payment would be made and the man stated, 'by check. I know you need to make sure my check is good, so I'll write it now and you can call the bank Monday to verify the funds and I'll pick up the ring Monday afternoon.'

On Monday morning, the jeweler angrily phoned the old man and said 'There's only $25 in that account.'

'I know, said the old man, 'But let me tell you about MY GREAT WEEKEND!'

Delta Airlines offers Rangers fans 17-minute flight to New Jersey for Game 3
By Sean Leahy | Puck Daddy – 15 hours ago

The thing most appreciated by New York Rangers and New Jersey Devils players for their Eastern Conference Final series is the lack of travel. Madison Square Garden and the Prudential Center are so close that the Devils have been practicing at home and hopping on a bus to New York City, even on on game days.

Sorry, Western Conference.

It's also great for fans who live close and can just grab a train or subway to either arena.

But what if you're a Rangers fan and have tickets to Game 3 on Saturday in New Jersey, but can't find a ride? Worse yet, you lost your Metro card and don't have enough scratch to buy a new one. What do you do?

How about taking a flight from LaGuardia Airport in Queens to Newark, New Jersey?

Yes, a flight. You will hop in an airplane and travel a whole 20 miles.

Delta Airlines is making this possible for Rangers fans through a very unique promotion. Fans have until 5 p.m. ET today to fill out a form on the Rangers website to be entered. The 17-minute trip on Saturday morning includes seats on the charter flight, Rangers swag, ground transportation to and from Newark Airport and the opportunity to win a chance to go on a road trip to a Rangers away game next season.

It's not the first time such an offer has been available for fans. In 2005, United Airlines had a promotion with the Chicago Tribune and another paper where Chicago White Sox fans could fly from O'Hare Airport to Midway Airport for that days game against the Cubs.

According to CBS New York, Rangers alumni Ron Duguay and Rod Gilbert will also be aboard the flight where you'll be able to ask Duguay what his favorite hair care products are and all about that 1979 Sasson jeans commercial.

Boy finds a piece of finger in Arby's sandwich
Associated Press
updated 5/17/2012 2:04:29 PM ET

JACKSON, Mich. — A Michigan teen made a gristly discovery after biting into an Arby's junior roast beef sandwich.
Ryan Hart said he had nearly polished off his sandwich last Friday when he bit into something tough to chew that tasted like rubber, so he spit it out.

Turns out it tasted like finger. The fleshy pad of an unfortunate employee's finger, apparently.

"I was like, 'That (has) to be a finger,'" Hart, 14, told the Jackson Citizen Patriot on Wednesday. "I was about to puke. ... It was just nasty."

The employee apparently cut her finger on a meat slicer and left her station without immediately telling anyone, said Steve Hall, the environmental health director for the Jackson County health department. Her co-workers continued filling orders before they became aware of what happened, he said.

John Gray, a spokesman for Atlanta-based Arby's, released a statement Wednesday apologizing for what he described as an isolated and "unfortunate incident." He said Arby's is still investigating, but has determined that the Jackson workers shut down food production as soon as they found out what happened and thoroughly cleaned and sanitized the restaurant.

The injured employee was treated at a hospital. Gray said the franchise has fully cooperated with health officials and was given the approval to remain open.

Ryan's mother, Jamie Vail, was incredulous. She and her friend, Joe Wheaton, had taken Ryan and his 11-year-old brother to the Arby's drive-through, and she said she thought her son was joking when he exclaimed he had found a piece of a finger in his sandwich.

"Somebody loses a finger, and you keep sending food out the window? I can't believe that," said Vail. She and Wheaton said the severed section was about an eighth to a quarter-inch thick and at least one inch long.
Vail said she called 911 and met police at a local hospital, where her son's blood was drawn and he was prescribed some medication.

Ryan said he is feeling fine. Vail said she has been in touch with a lawyer, but has not decided what course to take.

Canada cops: We'll hold diamond-swallower until evidence moves
By Alastair Jamieson, msnbc.com

Police in Ontario, Canada say they will hold a man who allegedly swallowed a $20,000 diamond for as long as it takes for him to produce the evidence.

It has been nearly a week since Richard Mackenzie Matthews, 52, is alleged to have switched a diamond at Precision Jewellers and swallowed the real one.

Matthews has been held at police headquarters while they wait for the 1.7-carat stone to pass through his system.
Sgt. Brett Corey said Thursday that Matthews has gone to the washroom numerous times, but the diamond hasn't passed.

Corey says a recent X-ray showed a pair of fake diamonds, or cubic zirconiums, stuck in the man's intestines but because a diamond is translucent, it isn't visible.

He says the suspect is eager to get the ordeal over with and is co-operating. In the early stages, Corey says Matthews was being given laxative type foods, but is now being fed whatever he wants, in an effort to get things moving.

Matthews is charged with theft and breach of court conditions, and is also wanted on warrants in Toronto.

“We’re still waiting him out, but at this point, we don’t have anything to show for it,” Corey told the Toronto Sun.

The Windsor Star newspaper said the grim task could not be forced on a rookie detective.

“It’s not like a hazing or ‘you’re the junior guy, in you go,’” Deputy Chief Jerome Brannagan told the newspaper.

"Whoever is involved in that has to be somebody who is qualified to give evidence in court. They’re going to have to articulate what happened, how it happened, how they recovered it. The chain of evidence has to be maintained.”

Young men who take erection pills for fun often feel down
By Lauren Cox
updated 5/17/2012 6:45:55 PM ET

Young men who take erectile dysfunction drugs for fun may damage their sex lives, a new study suggests.

Nearly 6 percent of the sexually active college men involved in the study reported taking drugs for erectile dysfunction (ED) without a prescription. Yet an analysis of these students' sex lives unveiled a paradox: The more ED drugs men took, the worse they felt.

"Using ED drugs recreationally has the potential to negatively influence one's confidence," said Christopher Harte, lead author of the study published this month in the Journal of Sexual Medicine.

Men who abused ED drugs reported the same level of physical sexual functioning as non-users did, but Harte found that they were less confident about their abilities to get and maintain an erection. The recreational users also were less satisfied with their sex lives overall, even if they were satisfied during intercourse.

"One needs to be careful when they are frequently using these medications. It can set you up to have unreasonable expectations" about your sex life, said Harte, a research fellow at VA Boston Healthcare System.
Because the survey captured students' feelings at one moment in time, Harte said it isn't clear how the link worked: It could be that experimentation with ED drugs led to anxiety, or that it was underlying anxiety that had led the men to try ED drugs.

The erection-mind connection
Harte's study involved 1,200 college-age men from across the U.S.

Cleveland Clinic urologist Dr. Drogo Montague said Harte's findings confirm what many sexual health experts suspect about misuse of ED drugs.

"We understand how they work, and I don't think there's any lasting physical harm for a young man who doesn't need them, or for an older man who does," Montague said. "But it does sometimes create these psychological problems – and they stick around."

Montague said it is common for a man to monitor his erection after taking an ED drug, and this "spectatoring" can detract from his pleasure. It also can turn up the activity of the sympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for people's flight-or-fight response. Normally the body turns down the activity of the sympathetic nervous system during sex.

Feeding a dependence
Urologists say there is no evidence the body develops a tolerance to ED medications. But recreational use of ED drugs may mask a natural decline in erectile function, leaving men surprised when they fail to achieve an erection, said Dr. Tobias Köhler, a spokesman for the American Urological Association.

"On average, the drugs only work for five years," Köhler said. Meanwhile, an underlying physical problem causing ED — high cholesterol, high blood pressure, diabetes or another issue – can continue to go untreated.

And doctors say it can take just a few troubled nights to feed a reliance on ED drugs.

"Anytime a man has a problem with his erection, he's always worried: 'Am I going to have a problem with the next erection?'" said Dr. Jacob Rajfer, professor of urology at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. "Is that a physiological or a psychological dependence? Well, I don't know the answer to that."

Beer-swilling bride sparks controversy in New Zealand

A front-page photo showing a contestant in a Bride of the Year competition taking a swig of beer has sparked controversy in New Zealand.

Katrina Hayman, a pig midwife, was snapped by the Taranaki Daily News as 34 women relived their big day for the event.

"At your wedding you're relaxed because you have your family and friends around for support but in the competition you are sort of all by yourself," Hayman told the newspaper. "It was quite stressful. That's why I was drinking a beer."

The photograph provoked debate online, with the image being branded "disgusting" by one critic. The contest's organizers also demanded an apology from the newspaper.

'I just felt more comfortable'

Hayman, who married in March, said she loved the photo and didn't understand the controversy. She added that no-one would have passed judgment if she had been spotted sipping a glass of wine.

"I mean that is just the type of person I am," the farm worker reportedly said. "I don't like to portray myself as someone I am not. A lot of females drink beer and it's just I felt more comfortable having a beer than having a wine."

New Zealand news website stuff.co.nz later posted a poll asking readers whether drinking beer is "becoming for a bride?"

At 6:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday, 62.4 percent of respondents had voted for "absolutely," compared to 13.6 percent who said "No, it's tacky" with 24 percent saying "OK, but out of an elegant glass please."

One user on the website added: "Clearly it's a surprise to some people that not all women drink champagne with their pinky finger out."

Hayman didn't win the competition.

Google Search basically reads your mind...

http://www.gadgetbox.msnbc.msn.com/t...ind-now-775019

Google Search basically reads your mind now
Rosa Golijan

Sometimes the queries you enter into Google have multiple meanings. Searching "bears" could mean you want to learn more about the animals or the football team — or perhaps something else entirely, something far less common. Wouldn't it be nice if Google could simply guess what you really want results for?

It now can.

Thanks to what's called Knowledge Graph, Google Search results will now include a little sidebar which allows you to choose from the various meanings of the term you searched for.

For example, if you search for "Andromeda," Google will suggest that you might be looking for information about a galaxy, a TV show or a Swedish heavy metal band. You select which thing you want results about and Google will show you only those links.

That's not all that Knowledge Graph will offer though. When there aren't multiple meanings for a popular search term, it will provide a summary of relevant information related to your query in the sidebar.

Searching for an artist would bring up his most famous works. A musician query could show her upcoming concert dates. Search for a TV show, and you might see information about its cast.

Clever, no?

You'll see Knowledge Graph in search results about as often as you see Maps. The feature will start gradually rolling out to U.S.-based Google users today.

The Canadian Press

TORONTO - Canadian specialty retailer Golf Town is expanding south of the border by acquiring Golfsmith International Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq:GOLF), a similar U.S.-based chain, in a deal valued at almost US$100 million.

Golf Town will pay US$6.10 per share in cash, or about US$96.8 million, to acquire the 85-location golf equipment and clothing retailer.

The friendly takeover offer is 30 per cent above Golfsmith's stock price at the close of trading on Friday and about 55 per cent above where the shares were when Golfsmith announced on March 1 it was seeking strategic alternatives.

Golfsmith shares were up $1.33, or 28.24 per cent, at US$6.04 Monday morning on the Nasdaq.

A plane is on its way to toronto, when a blonde in
economy class gets up and moves to the first class
section and sits down.

The flight attendant watches her do this and asks
to see her ticket.

She then tells the blonde that she paid for economy
class and that she will have to sit in the back.

The blonde replies, "i'm blonde, i'm beautiful, i'm
going to toronto and i'm staying right here."

the flight attendant goes into the cockpit and tells
the pilot and the co-pilot that there is a blonde
bimbo sitting in first class, that belongs in
economy and won't move back to her seat.

The co-pilot goes back to the blonde and tries to
explain that because she only paid for economy
she will have to leave and return to her seat.

The blonde replies, "i'm blonde, i'm beautiful, i'm
going to toronto and i'm staying right here."

the co-pilot tells the pilot that he probably should
have the police waiting when they land to arrest
this blonde woman who won't listen to reason.

The pilot says, "you say she is a blonde? I'll
handle this, i'm married to a blonde. I speak blonde."

he goes back to the blonde and whispers in her ear,
and she says, "oh, i'm sorry." and gets up and goes
back to her seat in economy.

The flight attendant and co-pilot are amazed and
asked him what he said to make her move without
any fuss.

"i told her, 'first class isn't going to toronto.'"
