hello friends. Today we are going to talk about phone scams. One of the latest to hit the airwaves is gaining more speed. ITs the one that the caller is telling you that you have to pay such and such a bill. They provide your real name, and your ssn. So to the unexpected it seems legit. But the hackers have actually gained your number from online registrations for loans at unsecure sites. They threaten ppl if they dont comply they will be arrested. Well this is all bs. as police do not arrest you if you owe someone money. The caller if asked where he is calling from will not dedevulge this info. Further proving that this is a scam call.
Moral of this story, is to remember the phone is just like the internet. YOU do not know who is on the other end. And the best way to be safe is just hang up.

But scammers have also noticed this and have worked there magic to lure ppl to this scam. You get an email inviting you to join the secert shopper . Well with the economy being what it is, a few have been duked into this scam. Given out there personel info, and even banking info. So before you sign up to get free money, remember what your parents told ya. there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Well my friends, welcome to monday. Today we shall talk about buying a computer/laptop. What to look for, and talk about is it worth the extra 50 bucks or so for this or that. Well lets start at prices, as in today's market with the economy being what it is, stores are trying to get you in there, and there trying everything they can. lately a laptop runs from approx 350 dollar. and tops off around 2500. But here is where you have to take notice. any particular model say brand W is on sale at store X, for 400 bucks, and at Store Y its on sale for $375. Well most ppl say nice i can save 25 dollars. well first take a look, its same model, same operating system, but here is where you need to look at the spec's. The Ram on the laptop is different. Store Y has 2gb of ram as the Store X has 3gb. IN this case pay the $400. AS your getting and extra gb of ram for 25 and will save you in long run. Next look at the size of the Hard Drive. If one of them has a Hard Drive with 100gb more. stick with that one. As this will allow you more room for programs and downloads. And if you find another different model with 1 more gb of ram and extra Hard Drive gb's. Pay an extra 50 dollars is worth it in long run. So in conclusion, From what you originally saw as a 375 dollar deal if you pay 425 for more ram and more hd its well worth it to go this route.

Hello to all my friends, well its friday. Weekend is almost here , just a matter of a few hrs. Today we shall talk about EMAIL SECURITY. As most of you know, we all have a spam box, in box, and sometimes the spam gets put into our inbox. Clicking on a spam email, may/maynot get you a virus, but what it will do is get you more spam mail. What it does, shows the sender that he/she has hit upon a live email address. And now your on the list. As most ppl dont give a second thought about this, figuring they can just hit delete. Well my answer to this is what your going to do when you get approx 100 spam emails, and your only one person, multiply that by millions of users, and email programs gettting bogged down with this. Slows the whole process down. Moral of that story, just click delete, do not open them.
Next is Address Book infection. Lately even friends of mine, have had there email address book infected with a trojan. If you get an email from a friend, and when you go to open it up, you see a link in it, with out any text from your friend, there is a good chance that its a trojan , just waiting for you to click on it. and Then your address book is infected. What this type of trojan does, is infect all your friends that open it up, and Everyone in there address book. So now there are hundreds of ppl's email address book's infected with a trojan. Best thing to do is delete the email. And then in a seperate email send a mesg to your friend to run a virus/malware scan on there computer.
Next is the olddest one of them all, you have WON, click here to claim your free laptop, ipod, ipad, gift certificate, or what ever the word they use. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS SCAM.

Good day my friends, today we shall talk about SYSTEMS NOISES. Understanding what your system is telling you can save you lots of down time and...

Good day my friends, today we shall talk about SYSTEMS NOISES. Understanding what your system is telling you can save you lots of down time and perhaps a little cash. As computer systems are comprised of many difference components, both electrical and mechanical, like a automobile, they tend to make noises, be it a series of beeps, spinning sounds, or chugging. Each one depicts a certain area that needs to be looked at. Some are normal. and need not worried about.
First noise is when you have click on your monitor button, hit the power on button on your tower/laptop and you hear a few beeps. and then you see nothing appearing on your screen. Most of the time this tends to be a warning that your Fan is clogged with dust, dirt. and is not working properly.
Remembering that your system is made up of electrical parts, which create heat, and your system is design by default to not work if it detects a greater amt of heat that could damage other areas of its make up. But dont get into panic mode, simply remove all electrical connections, from wall, battery (if laptop). remove cover and vacume out fan and surrounding areas. Replace cover. Hook back up to an electrical supply,re install battery in laptop. and now you should be good to go.
Another noise you may here is a chugging sound from your hard drive. This sound may be heard when your downloading or uploading files that are usualy more than 1 or 2mb in size. If your system is low on memory, it borrows memory from your hard drive and thus a chugging sound is produced. Fix for this is to add more physical memory. Finding out what and How much more you can add, gets a little technical. Thankfully there is a site that is available to assist you in this process.
www.crucial.com . Simply go to this site put in information from your system and it will give you what you need to know.

Hello to all my friends, today we are going to talk about child safety on the internet. As we have discussed this before, just found some new software that seems to be better than the last one i suggested.

Above is a link to it. With this new software you can monitor your childs use of the computer, it takes periodic screen shots of what your child is looking at, Gives you the ability of seeing what your child is doing with out having to be over the child's shoulder.

Today we shall talk about your internet speed. Testing it, and what or why you dont get what it says. For a majority , internet users are on a dsl or a broadband connection aka (cable). Go to www.speedtest.net A map/globe shows up , click on an area close to where your located, then click on start test. It will first check your download speed, and then your upload speed.
Your download speed is when your taking content from someplace else and bringing it into your computer, your upload speed is taking content/data from your computer and taking it to different place, sort of placing a file on a web page, posting it in a forum. Prior to taking the test, close out all other windows, as this also effects the speed.
Now the little variables that effect this outcome. Like when you go to download a file and its showing a speed of for example 400k. when the test you just finished says your download speed is 5mb. Your computer has already preset in its chips, processor a certian amt of data that it can process. So information,files/data beiing sent to it or from it have to go thru this, and a speed lost is apparent. along with firewalls and antivirus programs checking data to make sure its safe, here is another variable. Also along with the lenth of cable wire from your modem to your computer, if its under 6ft its good, under 3 ft and your got one of the best, anything more than the 6 ft and your data loss is going to add up a bit. Also to add another variable to this is the amount of web traffic to the site inwhich you are downloading or uploading to effects the speed. So in order to save money or not waste it, If you generally get a 400k download speed, and your paying your isp for a 4 to 6mb speed and want to upgrade to 8 to 10 mb speed, you are not really going to be gaining that much.
Till the next time, stay safe, and surf on.

Go to internet options, via up top in your browser, tools, bottom is internet options, on first tab that shows , General, click settings on browser history, you see a box, put that box to the lowest number allowed. with I E 8 its set to 8mb. ,But on other versions you can go to 2mb. Less stuff of this nature the better, on the bottom you will see history, set that to the lowest number, if you can set it to 0.
3rd tab over is privacy, click advance, then click override, in these boxes the following should be checked, allow session cookies, and 3rd party cookies SHOULD BE BLOCKED.. THIS IS A MUST DO.
On last tab, under broswer, make sure there is NO CHECK MARK IN 3RD PARTY BROWSER EXTENTIONS. THIS IS ALSO A MUST DO.
A little furthere down is security, make sure there is NO check mark in save encrypted data to disk.

Good day my friends, today, we shall go into a little bit about web site designing, specifically your home page. Setting up , adding meta tags.
If your at this stage of the game then you already heard the word tags, or meta words, meta tags. These are key words that Search engines look for when they are crawling the web. and The use of these words, helps when your site gets indexed/ranked in a search engine.
When you set up your home page also known as the first page visitor's to your site will see, its also the first thing that web crawlers see. On your home page it should include key words, describing what your site is all about, if your selling a product, promoting a exercise, or what ever the case may be, Once you have made your home page, It should never be changed,
After the first week, so after its set up, go back over it making sure that there is enough key words, describing your site, but using the same word over is not advisable. once or twice is good. Your second page should also include tags about that page, other pages should also be kept like they are originaly set up, except for changing prices, size of prooduct, or availablitiy, but the description, (which also should include meta tags,) should stay the same all the time. As time goes on, with web traffic, (aka hits to your site), purchases, help your site gain in the rankings of search engines, Changing your home page also changes your ranking, To a lower number. = you are working backwards, instead of gaining rank your loosing it. Its an old additive i call AGE OF THE PAGE, the older the page is the more rank it gets, and it shows the search engines that your not a fly by night site, and are in it for the long haul. Changing home page makes your site look lilke its just starting out again.
Well till tomorrow take care and be safe

I have stopped blogging on HTML, as this can go on for ever, and altho ppl may want to learn more, i believe i can help more doing a variety of topics associated with computers. But if you are interested in learning more about HTML, pls comment and/or leave mesg, and i will get back to you. Today i go into removing virus/Trojans. The best way is to have a program already installed on your computer/laptop. And as stated before always have it updated. You can update it every other day. this way if the need to remove a virus/Trojan, half of the work is already done. This is what the professionals do, and will also save you time and money , instead of bring your system to a local PC repair shop, you can have it fixed in a matter of hrs instead of waiting days for it. With the computer shut off, go into safe mode WITHOUT NETWORKING. Reason being if you have an active virus/Trojan, and being connected online, activates it and possibility of it hiding. If you go into safe mode without being online, It can not do nothing. And the ability of your software to pick it up and destroy it is greatly enhanced.
When you have reached safe mode. Open up your anti virus program and let it scan the whole system, making sure that it is also scanning hidden files. This is a must. As the virus/Trojan can hide. Also open up your anti malware program and run its scan.
If an infection is found, it will be then removed. If you have been infected, even tho it has been removed it might of corrupted your system, such as documents, document readers such as XL, adobe, etc. And when you try to open up a particular doc and says it can not be open , this is now come to light. what you will have to do, is uninstall that program and re install it. In my experience, i had a client that had been infected with Trojans, and virus's at same time. Her XL program was corrupt, downloading another version of this proved to be useless. So i suggested to her to download and install open office. After doing so her documents were now able to be opened, and edited.
Till next time be safe, and enjoy life,

Happy monday to all. start of a great week. As we left off the other day , we were just getting into the HEADING. As we stated priviously, a heading tag starts <h>.
Heading tags are for just headings, If you want to put bold text up there dont use a <h> tag. to get your site indexed properly, search engines use these tags. so if you have a tag out of place, its not going to be read correctly by browsers. <h1> is for the first heading. Do not use a <h1> tag for a heading in the middle of your document. as this is for the first heading, subsequenly, use a<h2> tag, to <h6> tag.

To create a horizontal line use this tag, <hr/>.
To insert a comment, use <!-- This is a comment --> .
comments are not read by your browsers, so what you do with these does nothing to direct or mess up what you already have done.

for a little review here is a breakdown.
As stated prior, that your home WI fi should be secure. But what about when your traveling, stop in at local coffee shop. hotel, using there WI fi set up. Most if not all are always unsecured. And me and you are not the only ones that know this. Its so much easier for a hacker to gain access into your Hard Drive at a WI fi hot spot then to go surfing the net for a ip and look up where your at. Here is one site that offers software that will help in your protection.http://www.nchsoftware.com
Its free, and you can not beat that. and to better understand how easy it is to hack into someones computer at a WI fi, go to you tube.com and search for videos on this, there is plenty out there. and you can see how doesn't take a rocket scientist to fig it out. So take caution,
Monday we will resume HTML. till then take care, be safe and enjoy the weekend.
